Camp out: Dundas Castle launches on-site glamping

Despite failing miserably at Brownie camp and harbouring traumatised memories from teenage trips up the woods with our tents, feeling at one with nature is still possible for us wimps, thanks to the wonderful invention that is glamping.

Trust us, your guests will lap up the newly launched five-star glamping in the grounds of Dundas Castle’s 500 acre estate. In association with Glampotel, who operate Europe-wide, the exclusive-use venue’s ‘canvas cottages’ have plenty of creature comforts to soothe home birds and are based only 15 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. Each is private and secluded, embedded into its own grassy knoll, and feature a shower room, wood burner and barbecue, with the option to have a luxury breakfast hamper delivered whenever suits.

“I’m so thrilled that we are able to bring luxury glamping to the Dundas Estate,” effuses owner Sir Jack Stewart-Clark. “We plan for the cottages to be located along the loch, which will give those who rent them a lovely view over the water and the ability to enjoy the tranquility of the nature and wildlife around them. Nearby is our Boathouse which is particularly popular for the wedding night and for those wanting to get away from it all.”

Prices start at £189 per night.
