Hats off: Scottish milliner to collaborate with Phase Eight

While commissioning a bespoke headpiece might be out of budget for most MOBs, MOGs and guests, it’s never been easier to get your hands on stunning pieces from some highly regarded milliners.

Last month saw the launch of the new collection from Top Hat by Stephen Jones at Debenhams, and this month Phase Eight have announced its collaboration with award-winning hat maker Yvette Jelfs.

Each handmade headpiece in the Yvette Jelfs for Phase Eight collection begins life at Yvette’s design studio and workshop in Melrose in the Scottish Borders.

Yvette has previously worked as a Royal Ascot fashion commentator for the BBC, so she’s well-versed in how a hat is the perfect finishing touch to elegant occasionwear. “I want my designs to be accessible to anyone – whether they’re a princess, a celebrity, race-goer or wedding attendee,” Yvette shares. “These pieces have been designed to be cherished and last more than one season.”

The collection features premium materials including handmade silk flowers, natural feather and delicate lace and satin, so it’s sure to be popular – especially as all headpieces cost under £130 – a great price for any headpiece, let alone one from a celebrity milliner that’s been handmade in the UK.

Yvette Jelfs for Phase Eight will be available online, and in-store in the Edinburgh store from May.
