GG’s Yard, a new exclusive-use Dumfries and Galloway venue opening this year, takes its name from the owner’s larger-than-life grandmother (know to everyone as ‘GG’) but will offer a wedding experience that’s a tad more impressive than tea and cakes at your nan’s.
“The venue is to be a romantic country setting with endless photo opportunities to make your dreams come true,” explains GG’s Yard’s Avive Asbridge. “From rolling hills to tranquil beaches and picture-perfect gardens, GG’s Yard has it all on the doorstep.” It’s exactly this variety that’s sure to set the Galloway venue apart when it welcomes couples later in the year – there are three distinct options for the ceremony alone, for instance.
“There’s an opportunity to get married on the beach at GG’s Yard,” notes Avive. “With Mossyard Beach only two minutes from the venue, this could make your wedding that little bit more special.” The venue will even provide seating and décor, including a dreamy canopy, and glasses of bubbly and canapés for the guests as they take in their sandy surroundings.
A hilltop location is also available for exchanging vows. “Imagine standing among the bonnie Galloway hills, with the love of your life, as you look down on the world,” says Avive. “What a feeling and what a memory. If you would like to add a little fun to the occasion, then we can arrange to have your guests transported by tractor and trailer.”
Inside, GG’s Yard’s ceremony wing – with its rustic stone, exposed beams and glittering chandeliers – will have its own grand piano, for equally grand entrances. You’ll be able to marry in front of a sweep of windows that soak up panoramic sea views, or in the centre of the room, with skylight (and natural spotlight!) directly above you both. Where do we sign?
