“I visited the venue I’d eventually marry Andy in on the same day as our second date. I’d been helping a friend with a wedding photo shoot at Fasque Castle and I was blown away by it. Little did I know we’d be there getting married three-and-a-half years later!

When we returned to view it as a potential wedding venue, I was delighted when Andy fell in love with it too. The fusion of contemporary and traditional at the castle looks fabulous against the stunning countryside backdrop. We thought it was a great venue both inside and out – a must when faced with unpredictable Scottish weather!

The venue is available for exclusive hire for an entire weekend. This meant we were able to accommodate our loved ones within the house and in the on-site cottages. We hosted afternoon tea and dinner the day before the wedding which allowed us to catch up with distant friends and relatives. It felt like a home away from home.

We love to throw a party, so personalising the day with décor and music was important to us. We wanted the musical choices to reflect our own tastes and get the party going early. We found acoustic versions of dance and pop songs to play during the ceremony, including a stripped back version of ‘Latch’ by Disclosure and Sam Smith for when we signed the register.

The dress I chose was the opposite of what I’d originally picked out. It pays to be open-minded and try on a variety of styles! I’d planned to buy expensive designer shoes, but in the end I got the same Rainbow Club shoes I’d found for the bridesmaids as they were so comfy.”

Top tip: “Don’t stress or get upset if little things go wrong on the day – no-one will notice so the most important thing is to enjoy yourselves!”
