When you’re first engaged and trying to pick what time of year to get married, think about what wedding inspiration would catch your eye on Pinterest. Do you dream of ice cold glasses of Pimms, fluffy pink peonies and an outdoor ceremony set against an explosion of greenery? Or would mulled wine, fluffy boleros and centrepieces with poinsettias and glistening baubles steal your heart?

Let’s face it: in Scotland you’re just as likely to be rained on in August as you are to have sunshine in December. Your guests might not be peeling off their pashminas and reclining on deckchairs on the lawn, but a crisp winter’s day with blue skies is just as fetching for photographs as its warmer equivalent in the summer. Ok – we confess: we love festive weddings! There’s the bonus of your venue having a head start on decorations, which you can set against a cool palette of snowy silver or jewel-toned red, green and gold to create your very own winter wonderland. But don’t just take our word for it – check out these fellow winter wedding fans!
