The womenswear retailers’ bridal collections you should have on your radar

Finding your dream dress on a budget can be tricky, but could the answer be on the high street or just a click away?

Ted Baker is just one high-street brand that has launched a range of chic wedding styles

Five years ago, the thought of nipping down the high street and picking up your wedding dress would have meant a low-key big day or last-minute elopement. Fast forward to 2017 and many of womenswear’s big hitters are dipping their toes into bridal waters.

Okay, there’s not the show-stopping mountains of tulle or breathtaking embellishment you’d expect from the leading lights in bridalwear that you’ll find on the rails in the country’s boutiques (the design skill, time and raw material costs involved in those gowns are what pushes prices over £1000). And you’re certainly not going to receive the same attention and one-to-one service you could expect from an appointment at a specialist bridal shop, but if you’re wanting a beautiful dress on a budget, then the high street could hold the key.

We’ve found styles and shapes that’ll suit everyone – from pretty ’50s tea-length frocks to fashion-forward frilled maxis – from the new collections by ASOS, Dorothy Perkins, Lipsy, Ted Baker, Topshop and Whistles.
