Drum roll, please… on 3rd January 2014, one of Scotland’s top cake makers is opening a swish new flagship showroom. Special Days Cakes started out in Uddingston over 20 years ago (although owner and cake designer extraordinaire Michael Burns has been making cakes a lot longer than that: he began as a 14-year-old apprentice at Tunnocks) and the business has grown continually since then, thanks to Michael’s reputation for beautiful wedding cakes, mouthwatering fillings, superb craftsmanship and first-class customer service. The new boutique-style store, at 432 Old Edinburgh Road in Uddingston, will house one of the UK’s largest displays of wedding cakes, so there’ll be no end of inspiration for brides-to-be in the quest for their tiers of joy.
