Entering giveaways and competitions can be a lifeline for brides and grooms on a budget. Winning a big-ticket item like your venue or dress can have a massive impact on your finances, and if you have the patience, there’s hundreds of smaller prizes up for grabs at wedding shows and all over social media.
A Wedding to Remember has just announced details of a competition with an unbelievable trove of prizes worth over £15,000. Imagine ticking off everything in one fell swoop from your venue to photography, videography and even your stationery and entertainment.
When it comes to your w-day look, there’s a £500 voucher for bridalwear; shoes, hair, makeup and nails are also taken care of. Scottish suppliers have rushed to offer their services after hearing about the very worthy causes that will benefit from this fundraising challenge.
Organiser Jenn Knox, who runs PhotoJenniK Photography, decided to compile the life-changing prize to raise funds and awareness for two charities close to her heart. She currently volunteers with Remember My Baby, a professional photography service that aids families who sadly lose their baby before, during or after birth. Photographers volunteer in hospitals and birthing centres to capture high resolution digital images to gift to parents.
Inspired by a close friend’s current health battle, Jenn also decided to include The Brain Tumour Charity in what is set to be a fantastic effort by brides and grooms-to-be. Couples can register here to enter, and then are directed to set up a JustGiving page that will be tied to one of the charities (a preference can be entered during registration).
Fundraising begins on 1st August and will run until the closing date on 20th February 2018. During these seven months the race is on to undertake as much charity work as possible, and the pair that snare the most donations will be walking down the aisle at Balmule House on 5th October 2018.
Jenn told us: “I really wanted to do something positive to raise not just money, but awareness for these relatively unknown charities. There’s only a handful of volunteer photographers for Remember My Baby in Scotland so I’m hoping this inspires more to sign up. The response from local businesses has been phenomenal, and more are signing up every day, so be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page to see what else you could win.”
