Often, when you hire out an exclusive-use venue, extended family are vying to stay on site, leaving you the stress of assigning the limited bedrooms on offer. Not at Drumtochty Castle: you can consign any squabbles about accommodation to the past.
To say the space up for grabs is extensive is a vast understatement. The Aberdeenshire castle can sleep up to a mind-boggling 91 guests (yes, you read that right) in the house itself and across its lodges and converted stables in the grounds. “The castle provides a range of luxury accommodation types,” explains general manager Nikki Curran. “There are double, twin and deluxe suites, with views over the front lawn. Our 11 en-suite rooms are all finished to the highest standard and carry through the venue’s opulent, stately feel.”
Add the North and West Wing apartments into the mix, with 12 bedrooms between them, and that’s likely your clan and close friends taken care of. Venture outside, and you’ll also find the Stables, a series of self-catering one- and two-bedroom flats, and three lodges; the Dwelling House, the Vergers Lodge and the West Lodge. Your aunt’s cousin’s best friend’s sister can come along after all…
