Exterior of Dungallan Country House in Oban

Since being built by the Duke of Argyll in 1870 as his summer residence, Dungallan Country House has had a remarkable life, including that of an auxiliary hospital during the First World War.

Having received an extensive interior and exterior refurbishment in 2022, this blonde sandstone, French chateau-style country house now boasts 11 individually designed suites and bedrooms with the level of exquisite detail expected from a luxury country abode. Every element has been carefully designed, from the oversized ceiling roses to the carved curtain pole finials and oak room signs.

The same level of opulence continues in the sumptuous Dungallan bar, restaurant and library, each room being individually styled using soft, tonal colours with some spectacular features. The private garden, boasting a wrap-around patio, is the perfect spot to enjoy the most beautiful, uninterrupted views in comfort whilst sipping your favourite drink from the extensive bar selection.

Weddings and special events are offered on an exclusive-use basis. Not only does this ensure you and your guests enjoy complete privacy of the country house and private mature gardens, it also allows the team to deliver a personal, dedicated service for the duration of your stay, making your experience as unique as you are.

During the warmer months, couples may choose to exchange their vows in the garden, perhaps making use of the marquee in less favourable weather. In the cooler months, the library would be a wonderfully warm and inviting room with its roaring fire and leather upholstered furniture to host smaller, more intimate weddings.

For those larger gatherings, the Dungallan bar provides the perfect space to host the ceremony and the all-important celebratory drinks.

Dungallan Country House’s wedding packages include:• A choice of hot and/or cold buffet for up to 60 people• A range of drinks packages tailored to the couple’s taste• A selection of canapés• Sleeping up to 22 guests in a range of individually designed suites and bedrooms• The honeymoon suite dressed for the wedding night with complimentary prosecco in the room• For those golf lovers, a complimentary round of golf the day before/morning of the wedding
