“Chris and I met seven years ago at The Glenturret Distillery in Crieff. We were just friends at first, but that all changed at a staff party! The distillery was always a special place for us, so it was a no-brainer to get married there. We did look a few other options, but nothing had the lovely emotional feeling of the place we first met.

Our main inspiration came from the venue. We both love whisky, and incorporated it into our big day. I added some vintage and rustic touches, and football-mad Chris made sure we included some subtle footie tributes. We gave our guests personalised Glenturret miniatures as favours/place cards and used customised bottles of Famous Grouse as our table names. The distillery had lots of casks and mini barrels that we decorated also.

We bought giant Jenga and Connect Four, as well as a Hoopla for our guests to play whilst we were having our photos taken. We also made our own popcorn bar and it was an absolute bargain. The variety of popcorn available in supermarkets just now is great and everything else can be picked up online.

I don’t think we’ll ever top the first time we saw each other on the day – it was so lovely and special and definitely our favourite moment. During our ceremony we had picked a whisky with characteristics to describe what we like best about each other, and we ended up picking the same whisky! Our friends and family thought it was a wind-up until they saw our faces.”

Top tip: “Source a band quickly – we couldn’t believe how fast they booked up and it left us searching for a lot longer than we’d anticipated. Same goes for venues, photographers and videographers.”
