“Alexis loves Christmas – hence the festive wedding – so getting engaged on Christmas Eve was really special to us. We hosted our family for drinks after the church service and when we were alone later on we played our favourite song (‘You Are the Best Thing’ by Ray Lamontagne) and had a little dance around the living room before Darren got down on one knee.
Alexis was already aware of our photographers, Craig and Eva Sanders, as she loves their fine art approach to photography. We were on a mission to book them and were so thankful we managed to.
We hired Carlowrie Castle exclusively for the day before the wedding and on the day itself, and asked our bridal party and families to stay on the eve of the big day. Everyone wore their best Christmas jumpers and we hosted a private dinner – it was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations.
We wanted our wedding to capture the Christmas spirit and be opulent, classic and glamorous. We went for a black tie theme which tied in nicely with the venue. Christmas was a big influence – our tables were named after Christmas films with the posters displayed in an ornate frame. We sat at White Christmas, which was the first Christmas film we watched together.
Alexis loved her bespoke shoes, which were made-to-measure by Alexander White London. They were perfect and made her feel like a modern day Cinderella.”
