Fancy a beachy big day? Check out Talla na Mara, the most idyllic spot to tie the knot

Talla na Mara is perched on the edge of Niseabost beach

Have you ever seen a landscape quite as spectacular as this? At first glance, the utilitarian, angular building starkly contrasts with the pure sands and turquoise waters of the little strip of Isle of Harris coastline it occupies, but it’s the roof that is most at home in the setting, with its peaks and troughs echoing the jagged, Hebridean mountains beyond. At Talla na Mara, w-day photographs are clearly a (sea) breeze.

While there’s always the option to exchange vows on nearby Niseabost beach, a few paces from the doorstep, inside, this community hub offers a versatile, blank canvas space for up to 140 day guests (evening capacity is 200). The food offering is decidedly yummy thanks to in-house caterers Machair Kitchen, who can create a menu that champions Hebridean produce to suit all tastes and budgets.

For accommodation, meanwhile, the venue has a close relationship with Hotel Hebrides in nearby Tarbert, whose Kirklea Island suites will take care of the VIPs. Talla na Mara has launched its latest round of packages, priced from £2,400 for 2019 dates and exclusive use of the building, marquee and decking. We’ll meet you on the ferry.
