NATALIE FEARNLEY

BALANCING A BOLD LIP
“I specialize in Airbase – an HD airbrushing make-up,” reveals Natalie Fearnley. “So I used its porcelain-like foundation in shade ‘00’ to compliment my bride’s beautiful fair skin. As this look focused on the lips, I kept eyes simple, lining the top lid with Inglot black gel liner, then applied a generous amount of Max Factor mascara to the top and bottom lids. To give the lips a colour that was kiss-proof, I used Max Factor’s Lipfinity finished with a dab of clear gloss on top for shine.”

NAILING A VINTAGE-INSPIRED LOOK
Karen Bowen tells us how she achieved this soft yet accentuated look, the perfect match for a delicate lace gown: “I started with the crucial Laura Mercier primer. This gives the base (Luminious Silk Foundation by Giorgio Armani) a smooth finish and helps keep make-up on all day. Vintage looks should have a matte finish to the eyes, as anything with shimmer looks too contemporary. Try MAC Eyepaint in Untitled along with MAC Fluidline applied in the thinnest of lines along the lash root. Lips should have a matte or satin finish to them; again, anything too glossy looks too modern. Clinique’s Colour Surge Butter Shine lipstick in Pink-a-boo is a good option.”

MADE OVER LADIES

MADE OVER LADIES

CREATING A SPRING-LIKE GLOW
Amy Hughes, one half of beauty duo Made Over Ladies, shares the secrets behind this dewy face. “To create a fresh-looking glow, after applying a skin-tightening primer (I love Beauty Flash Balm by Clarins), I like to use an illuminating base such as No7 Lift and Luminate Foundation. Next: ramp up the highlight! My trick is to play up the highlight in the inner corner of the eye to really open them up, then, using old favourite Benefit High Beam or MAC eyeshadow in Shroom, highlight the brow bone and high on the cheekbone. I brought out the cheeks with a peachy glow on the apples of the cheeks. With a natural and fresh look on the rest of the face, you can afford to go a little more berry on the lips. Try YSL glossy tint No.14 Fuchsia Dore, perfect for brides as the stain remains on the lips even when the gloss has been kissed off!”

LUCY GOURLAY

LUCY GOURLAY

A FRESH AND NATURAL LOOK
Lucy runs Edinburgh-based LG Makeup and has perfected the art of the flawless bridal look. “I used Jane Iredale cosmetics throughout, beginning with an all-over application of Pure Pressed Minerals in Golden Glow,” reveals Lucy. “After dusting Barely Rose blush on the apple of the cheeks, I defined the eyes with a black eyeshadow, slightly dampened and softly smudged with a deeper enhancement at the outer edges. I also used Taupe eyeshadow on the socket line and Peach Sherbet on the lids. Two coats of mascara and some emphasis on the brows finished the focus on the eyes. On the lips, I used Spice Lip Pencil with a generous coat of Pure Gloss in Pink Candy on top.”

DIANA MACKENZIE

DIANA MACKENZIE

THE ‘NO MAKE-UP’ MAKE-UP LOOK
If you don’t normally wear much warpaint, then take a look at Diana Mackenzie’s no-fuss, fresh-faced make-up look. Here’s how she achieved it: “I prepped the skin with Ilamasqua Matte Primer before applying MAC Face and Body Foundation, which has sheer buildable coverage. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage was my weapon for concealing imperfections and evening out any darkness around the eye area. I used MAC Sculpting Powder to contour, then I swept on a highlighting blush – Ilamasqua Powder Blusher in Intrigue. Various MAC eyeshadows brought definition to the eyes and part of the lower lid was lined with Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Brown Copper. The look was finished with a subtle dusting of MAC Blush in Margin to the cheeks and two coats of Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara.”
