“Ben and I both have the travel bug and go away whenever possible to explore new places. When we got engaged, we decided to have our special day in the sun with all our close family and friends in a fun atmosphere. We fell in love with Cortijo Pedro Jimenez in Estepona straight away. The mountain setting and beautiful courtyard felt so romantic and unique to any venue we had ever seen before.
I’ve shot weddings for the past seven years with my company KK Snaps and I wanted the girls that work alongside my business partner Katie and I to capture as many natural, happy moments as possible. Katie took her laptop over without telling me and edited some sneak peek shots on the holiday as a surprise.
Even though we had our wedding abroad, it was important that it had lots of personal touches that represent us as a couple. I took two extra cases over with me filled with decorations to really put our stamp on the venue. Photographs naturally played a big role, with Polaroids and pictures hanging throughout the venue and we also had a magic mirror photobooth.
Rachel Rose Weddings helped plan our day and the team were fantastic.We can’t recommend them enough. The planning process would have been much trickier if we had to source and book suppliers abroad by ourselves.
Our speeches were emotional, funny and unexpected. The best men chose to put me on the spot instead of the groom – they’re lucky I have a sense of humour! They also played a recording from The X Factor’s Wagner that had everyone in stitches.
I decided to have a bespoke dress made at Eleganza Sposa. Some changes were made along the way, but one thing I knew straight away was I wanted a dress that no one else had ever worn and it was unique to me.”
Top tip: “The little things don’t really matter on the day so don’t waste your time stressing over the colour of the tablecloths.”
