Preparing for the big day can be tough, but East Lothian-based company Backdrops & Buttercream is here to lighten your load and take care of the details for you, covering everything from wedding co-ordination to cakes
After owner Natalie McIntyre identified a gap in the market for full-service event planning with one point of contact, she decided to launch Backdrops & Buttercream Weddings and Events Styling. The company offers all-inclusive packages throughout central Scotland, covering co-ordination, Indian/bell tent hire, floristry, cakes, table and chair rental, props and all aspects of event styling, meaning the days of juggling multiple suppliers could be in the past.
Founded in 2020, the idea of an all-inclusive service came to Natalie after being maid of honour at her sister’s wedding. Drawing on her time spent helping out her sister, as well as her years of varied and valuable experience in everything from floristry to makeup and beauty, she realised she had the skills and know-how to help others achieve their picture-perfect big day too.
However, it seems Natalie isn’t one to rest on her laurels: she went on to complete diplomas in both wedding planning and photography (and, impressively, achieved a distinction in both), and honed her baking skills over the lockdowns, earning praise and a solid reputation. Talk about multi-talented.
Since restrictions eased, Natalie and her team have gone from strength to strength, with re-bookings and recommendations a testament to the excellent service provided. Now, they’re launching their much anticipated all-inclusive wedding packages, which are set to commence in 2022 and will range from intimate weddings for 12 guests to outdoor celebrations in luxury Indian tents that can cater for up to 100 guests. We predict big things from this industry up-and-comer.
