Have a sneaking suspicion you were a royal in a past life? Then surely exchanging vows in a castle, your spiritual home, will be top of the w-day bucket list? For some of the country’s fairytale finest, hit the high road and head up north.
Fasque Castle in Aberdeenshire is a staggering, exclusive-use 19th-century baronial mansion owned by the family of four-time Prime Minister William Gladstone. Its prestigious past goes some way to explain what the venue can provide for couples – try helicopter access, a chauffeur and afternoon tea on arrival.
“As an exclusive-hire venue, we offer couples a completely private location for themselves and their guests to relax in and enjoy from the moment they arrive and throughout their entire stay,” explains the castle’s Emily Mitchell. “Guests will be able to stroll through the garden, sip champagne on the terrace and take in the views of over 400 acres of rolling countryside.”
Still craving more? There’s also a resident mixologist in the castle’s private bar and an on-site kitchen for the sole use of you and your guests, should you fancy hiring in your own caterers. Book midweek in low season (1st November 2016-31st March 2017) and the place is yours for £6,000.
