Made-to-measure favourite Joyce Young Design Studios enthrals with new collection for mothers of the bride and groom

The new occasionwear line builds on the designer’s successful formula: creating simple, flattering, elegant lines that drape beautifully and fit to perfection

A brand synonymous with luxe fabrics and chic designs, Glasgow atelier Joyce Young Design Studios’ has introduced sophisticated, but comfortable silhouettes that we believe will be a hit with mamas for upcoming weddings. Case in point, the silk crepe jumpsuit (above) to which sleeves can be added if you wish to cover your arms.

If you can’t see past a classic dress, our top picks would be either the silk shift and matching trapeze coat (that ruffle collar is a head turner and can be donned again!), or the belted jacquard organza dress with Bardot neckline – its vintage nod will make you stand out from the crowd.

“At Joyce Young Design Studios, we offer a wide choice of styles and colours, and as each outfit is individually made, we can make adjustments to suit each client,” designer Joyce Young tells us. “Our knowledge of designing wedding outfits for mothers is second-to-none, having gained valuable experience over 29 years of working with literally all shapes and sizes.”

It only takes an average of three fittings for the atelier to create your desired look. Styles can be customised to suit your tastes or made exactly like the samples, and customers can try designs on in the north Glasgow showroom before ordering.

You can rest assured the attire will fit you like a glove: 20 measurements will be taken by the couturier so the mock up dress made of cotton toile is as accurate as can be. During the first fitting the mock dress is pinned to fit your body before the fabric is cut. There are two further stages before the team of five – including stylist, fitter, pattern cutter, cutter and machinist – produce a show-stopping frock.

“Thousands of mothers of the bride and groom tell us how amazing they felt on the big day and how much confidence having a made to measure outfit gave them,” Joyce adds.
