The views and the possibility of having our wedding outside really sparked the idea of having a ‘garden party’ feel to our day. We envisioned being in the sunshine – taking a chance in Scotland we know! – and felt that a summery, natural colour palette really encapsulated our venue.
We had a look through the Boturich Castle Instagram hashtag/location tag and got ideas of things we liked and also weren’t to our taste there. We loved the Tie the Knot Scotland website and found the ‘real wedding’ section really inspiring for ideas.
The thing that surprised us most about getting married was how calm we both felt! There is such a big build-up that we were really shocked on the day before the wedding when we felt so relaxed. We were really lucky that our venue only holds weddings on Thursdays and Saturdays so we were able to arrive the day before the wedding and drop everything off and let the staff set up.”
Top tip: “Organisation! To some it probably seemed like we were running a business and we gained some very valuable skills in Excel. The staff at Boturich were really impressed that we had a document folder for each table with the seating plan and menu place cards and that really helped them set up efficiently.”
