The scent of fresh roses and the lull of classical wedding music greets brides-to-be at Weddings by Charlotte Boyd, the Dumfries boutique that has just announced that it’s down to the final six in the Best New Bridal Retailer category at the prestigious Bridal Buyer Awards 2014. We spoke to boutique owner Charlotte and she is understandably over the moon with the recognition her team has received. “It’s a nationwide category, so we are delighted that a boutique from such a small town in Scotland has been shortlisted next to boutiques from London, Cheshire and Manchester. The awards are judged by industry specialists who identify companies and individuals who offer something extra, so we are understandably very proud to be the only Scottish finalist in this category,” she beams.
Housed in a former bank building, it’s easy to see why the boutique captured the judging panel’s imagination with its high ceilings and original features. However, it’s what’s on the rails that really makes Weddings by Charlotte Boyd stand out; collections include gowns from Ronald Joyce, Justin Alexander, Mori Lee, Ivory & Co and Eliza Jane Howell. “We’ve gowns ranging from £700 to £2500 and sizes from 6 to 34; we have almost every budget and style covered too,” reveals Charlotte, who adds that the boutique’s spacious, light-filled dressing rooms mean that “brides have plenty of room to dance around once they have found their perfect gown.”
The awards are due to be announced at a glittering awards ceremony in Harrogate on 8th September so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for Weddings by Charlotte Boyd!
