Roman holiday: The Bridal Courtyard heads to Italy

Did you see the magical shots of the Colosseum in the snow last week? Our love affair with all things dolce vita, especially when it comes to the country’s output of bridal gowns, never wavers but seeing the ancient capital city blanketed by a blizzard for the first time in six years has stolen our hearts all over again. Talk about romantic – no wonder Scottish boutiques are desperate to touch down on Roman soil.

“This month, we’re flying out to Rome to view the 2019 Aurora collection by Nicole Spose,” divulges The Bridal Courtyard’s Jennifer Gilbert (can we stow away in your suitcase please?). “We worship the dresses in the current range, which we were lucky enough to welcome into the boutique just before Christmas. The styles are really luxurious, with some unusual details and sumptuous fabrics.”

While you wait impatiently for the next round of Italian gowns to sashay into the Glasgow boutique, get a load of style AUAB18968 (above, £1,499) and its gauzy shoulder robing, delicately brushing past the bold lace appliqué, and refined style AUAB18935 (below, from £1,659), with exactly the right, slightly sporty neckline and smooth, pooling train that’ll speak to unfussy brides.
