Sheila Fleet Jewellery sets up shop in Glasgow’s Princes Square

Scotland’s landscape is one of the world’s most varied, and it’s difficult to believe that much could connect the moody, urban vibes of Glasgow with the craggy cliffs and white sandy beaches of Orkney other than a shared flag and parliament.

However, it’s now a little easier to find some of Orkney’s rugged natural beauty in the central belt thanks to Sheila Fleet Jewellery‘s new store in Princes Square.

The shop, which opened its doors on Friday 5th April, offers customers a unique retail experience reflecting the designer’s homeland and the themes that have defined her work through the years.

It’s worth noting, however, that these motifs are not only channelled in her jewellery: the natural world has also inspired the interior of the store, with curved walls, seaweed sculptures and pebble shapes and colours just some of the elements incorporated into the design.

The boutique is located on the first floor of Glasgow’s shopping haven and has taken its place alongside other established names like Kate Spade New York, Vivienne Westwood and Karen Millen. Sheila Fleet Jewellery is, first and foremost, a family-orientated business, and the launch has been overseen by Sheila herself, her son Martin and his wife Mairi.

“Princes Square is a beautiful boutique shopping centre, and we’ve long aspired to have a presence there, as retail is a critical element of what we do,” explained Sheila Fleet, who was awarded an OBE in 2013 for services to the jewellery industry.

“We’ve sought to take a little piece of Orkney to Glasgow and tell the story of the islands through the amazing interior of the shop, the displays and the jewellery itself, which is all inspired by the sea, sky, landscape and history that surrounds us. We think the end result is truly remarkable and can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

We’ve been big fans of Sheila Fleet Jewellery for a long time, and can’t wait to peruse all of its gorgeous designs at this new store. We reckon you’ll be able to find your something new and something blue here when the time comes.
