“We got engaged when we were out for dinner in Glasgow in 2009 – Stephen was so nervous he opened the ring box upside down and the ring fell out! We were engaged for seven years before we got married.
After booking the ceremony at the beautiful chapel I’d been brought up in and securing our date at Glenskirlie Castle, our next priority was to find a really good band that would create a party atmosphere for our guests. When we found Replay we booked them straight away.
We had a rustic feel for our wedding and used pastels and little touches of metallics (it sounded a bit much initially but it all came together). I did everything I could manage on my own to give our day a personal touch. We made a wine cork board table plan with our favourite TV couples as table names, wood-slice centrepieces with hand-painted flower jars, and jam jar cocktail glass favours. I also calligraphed our stationery and put together champagne and biscuit hampers for our guests’ bus.
AMM Hair and Make-up Team were amazing during my trial and on the big day. They made us look and feel fabulous and really knew how to create the look we were going for. I totally fell in love with my flower crown and thought having denim jackets for me and my bridesmaids was relaxed and a bit different.
During the speeches, we surprised our daughters with a visit from Belle and Rapunzel, who told them we were taking them to Walt Disney World in Florida! It was so special and something we can all watch back and remember forever.”
Top tip: “If you’re planning lots of DIY for your wedding, make sure it isn’t costing you more than paying someone to do it for you. And keep stress to a minimum: it all comes together in the end!”
