Up the fun factor with acts, animals and attractions that will seriously impress your guests
1. Velvet Hall Alpacas
Guess what’s coming to a wedding near you soon? Alpacas. Yes, really. “We have ten boys of various colours that we use as guests,” says Stuart Ramsay of Velvet Hall Alpacas. “They are used primarily as ring bearers – they have a collar, bow tie and velvet pouch around their necks. The rings are delivered by the boys as they are walked down the aisle. Afterwards, they are happy to be part of the official photography, whether indoors or outside in the gardens, and are at the wedding for around four hours.”
2. Rapido Mariachi
Is there anything more uplifting than a Mexican mariachi band? Five-piece Glasgow-based Rapido Mariachi will have those toes tapping with their contemporary and classic pop songs covered in a mariachi style. Keep the band as a surprise for your reception and your guests will love you forever. ¡Arriba, arriba!
3. Carousel For Hire
If you were at The Scottish Wedding Show at Glasgow’s SEC back in February, you will no doubt have noticed Carousel for Hire’s stand-out attraction. We couldn’t hide our delight when we spotted this colourful musical amusement at the show and immediately joined the queue for a shot. Your guests will feel exactly the same way if you book this family favourite for your big day. With tunes from an old-time musical organ playing as it spins, it makes an unforgettable focal point for a wedding.
4. Magician Billy Reid
Do you believe in magic? Book professional magician Billy Reid for the day, and he will almost certainly convince you! “Magic has a universal appeal so it’s a shame that many people have never witnessed live professional magic before,” says the performer. “It is such a great way to entertain everyone.” It’ll keep your guests busy during your pics, too.
5. DeLighters
Add some heat to the proceedings by welcoming your guests with an awesome fire show. The performers at DeLighters will thrill the crowd with their amazing skills. “We offer indoor or outdoor circus entertainment,” says the company’s Jusztina Hermann. “We also put on choreographed fire shows with pyrotechnics, or indoor glow performances, for a high-energy finale to your celebrations.”
