“We got engaged on what I thought was a camping holiday in Pitlochry in 2015. We were white water rafting and when we approached a quiet part of the river Derek told me to close my eyes.
I thought he was going to push me in the water, but when I opened my eyes there was inflatable swans all round the boat and he was holding a ring! We were actually staying at the Dunkeld House Hotel and he had even packed a case for me so I had my makeup and an outfit for dinner. The whole thing was so Derek, it was perfect.
We decided to get married at Lochside House Hotel, after enjoying spa trips there with my family. We had 142 day guests and a further 30 evening guests.
Pinterest was my go-to for ideas. I loved the rustic look with hessian and lace, so our centrepieces were log slices with small jars for candles and flowers. My bouquet was beautiful – it was a loose hand-tie of seasonal blooms in pastel shades. I attached a small photo frame with a picture of my mum on her wedding day on one side and my gran on the other.
The wedding was due to start at 2pm and I found out at 1.55pm that my photographer was double-booked. My makeup artist Laura put a post on Facebook to see if any photographers could step in last minute and Kev of KSG Photography came to the rescue.
Even though we had this stress in the morning, I still wouldn’t change a thing. It all worked out in the end and we were so lucky to get Kev. He was our star supplier and our pictures are simply stunning!”
Top tip: “I used an app called Wedding Planner and found it really helpful. I’m not normally very good at planning things and this kept me on track.”
