“We got married on our 10th anniversary together. We got engaged in London: Robbie asked someone passing to take a photo of us and then went down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
We hoped our wedding day would be unique, and when we found Talla Na Mara we knew it was the one. Between the beaches and the fantastic weather, we got exactly what we wanted.
My favourite wedding detail was the charm on my bouquet – it has my grandparents’ handwriting from birthday cards kept from my 1st birthday. With the writing and colour of the ribbon, it doubled up as both my something old and blue.
It was so important to pick a photographer who made everything fun, relaxed and easy – that’s why Lynn at Photography 78 was fantastic. My favourite shots from the day are when we went to the beach just the two of us. I love how it shows off the scenery, the weather and the stunning Horgabost beach.
I used Bridebook to help with my planning. It kept me right with the timescale and on track with what needed to be done next. Our biggest bargain was our wedding favours. We got 100 jars from Wilko for £15 and filled them with shots (or sweets) and had labels made.
Our guests loved the atmosphere, weather and location of our wedding, and we did too. We wouldn’t change a thing about it!”
Top tip: “We would say to any couple getting married make sure you have some time just the two of you, it goes past so fast that it’s lovely to take a quiet moment.”
