She nearly upstaged her sister on her wedding day, so we’ve got high hopes for newly engaged P-Middy when it’s her turn
Congratulations to Pippa Middleton, who got engaged last weekend to her beau (and bro of MIC’s Spencer) James Matthews. After the ‘curves envied round the world’ in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress at sister Kate’s wedding to Prince William, she’s set her bridal bar unspeakably high. We have a feeling she’ll rise to the challenge though, and so do nine bridal experts from Scotland’s boutiques. They’ve browsed their rails for the perfect dress for Pippa…
Anne Priscilla Bridal
“We would love to see more of Pippa’s famous bottom, that’s why we’ve chosen Vicenta by Pronovias, styled with Stewart Parvin’s Mary jacket in Fonteyn lace. The dress is figure-hugging and has the added feature of a covered neckline and a fabulous detailed train – a must for a cathedral ceremony. The jacket can then be removed for the reception,” says Karen Kelly at Anne Priscilla Bridal.
“We think Pippa would look incredible in a style that accentuates her décolletage, so Claudia Cardinale by Eleganza Iconica would be our dream dress. It would nip her in at the waist and is made-to-measure for the perfect fit. The drama of the tulle train would create a statement walking down the aisle,” says Hannah Muckersie at Eleganza Sposa.
Joyce Young Design Studios
“This is one of our couture dresses, Camellia, which is figure-hugging satin sand-washed silk with a detachable soft silk organza train. I think this would show off the amazing curves that Pippa is famed for, while at the same time look elegant and demure with a touch of drama in the train,” says Joyce Young.
“I would pick one of our Berta Bridal gowns for Pippa. It has a dignified high neckline and stunning shoulder detailing, but the low back and fitted hip line would accentuate her fantastic figure. We’re the exclusive Scottish stockist for the luxe form-fitting Berta Bridal collection. I do think she will pick a British designer to wear on her big day, so in that case I’d recommend one of our Charlie Brear styles,” says Sharon McPherson of Opus Atelier.
“I would in the Zainala gown from the San Patrick by Pronovias collection. This dress is a excellent mixture of fitted and full. Pippa is often seen in fitted dresses, however Zainala offers a modern twist on this style while still offering the modest sleeves that are traditional in a royal wedding gown,” says Karyn McLeod of Ivory Whites.
Alison Kirk Bridal
“I think Pippa would look stunning in Ivy by Naomi Neoh, which is an elegant silk satin dress in an Oyster hue. The touch of guipure lace adds extra romance to this off-shoulder look and the fabulous corsetry of the dress would show off her figure beautifully,” says Lindsay Brown of Alison Kirk Bridal.
Kudos Bridal Boutiques
“We’d love to see Pippa in the Samara gown from By Catriona, which is a new, exclusive label for Kudos this season. Pippa often opts for soft fabric dresses with capped sleeves and higher necklines for her day-to-day style and this dress is a beautiful progression on that. The lace panel in the back and sides keep an alluring edge without going OTT, and the shaping in the skirt means that her signature rear won’t miss out on the action!” says Michelle Scott at Kudos Bridal Boutiques.
Sophia Grace Couture
“Style NIAB16087 by Nicole Spose would be perfect for Pippa. A gown which features a fitted bodice with Bardot neckline will highlight Pippa’s shape whilst the sumptuous lace and ballgown shape is very regal,” says Naydene Commins at Sophia Grace Couture.
“British designer Caroline Castigliano would be the perfect selection for Pippa with her timeless, glamorous gowns. The Paisley gown from her upcoming collection is a contemporary twist on the traditional wedding gown, very stylish for a fashion-forward bride,” says Jordana Partick at Bridal Garden.
