Team BSW paid a visit to the newly opened Scottish Wedding Rooms this week.
Nestled down a cobbled lane in Kilmarnock town centre, it’s a collective of some of the very best creative suppliers in the country, all handily housed under one roof. It’s like going to your very own super-chic, selective wedding show, but the bonus is it’s a totally unhurried environment; no-one will thrust leaflets upon you and you don’t have to worry about remembering where-you-saw-what-with-whom as it’s a permanent set-up. It’s no word of a lie to say that you genuinely could source all your suppliers in one fell swoop.
While brides are trying on pretty dresses by Impression Bridal, Jasmine, Phoenix Gowns and True Bride at Alana’s Bridal Lounge (www.perfect-occasionsuk.co.uk) – which, by the way, even has it’s own purpose-built mini catwalk to swish down when wearing the gowns – the groom can be out of sight next-door at Kilts 4 U (www.kilts-4-u.com) getting kitted out in his kilt.
While he’s at it, he may as well pop along to see White Wedding Cars Kilmarnock (www.whiteweddingcars.net) to sort out the wedding wheels.
The award-winning Liggy’s Cake Company (www.liggyscakes.co.uk) is on-hand to design and make a couture cake that looks and tastes out of this world.
Talking of stellar suppliers, SuperNova Wedding Design and Flowers (www.supernovaevents.co.uk) are the go-to gals in the Killie wedding hub for venue décor and flowers with style.
In Sixpenny Blue’s room (sixpennyblue.com), delightful stationery and fabulous favours await, while neighbour John McKay Jewellers (www.johnmckayjewellers.co.uk) has its own little treasure trove of bespoke and off-the-peg wedding rings, necklaces, earrings and accessories ready to tempt.

While there’s no in-house venue (as yet) at The Scottish Wedding Rooms, they’ve got strong relationships with many of the leading locations in Ayrshire and beyond, so the well-connected guys and gals at the Rooms would only be too happy to make recommendations on that front as well.
There’s a catwalk show happening on Thursday 29th May, when Alana’s Bridal Lounge and Kilts 4 U will be showing off their latest collections. All the other suppliers will be there ready to talk all things wedding.
