Looking for a capital city venue with character? You’d struggle to find better than the Grassmarket Centre at the foot of Candlemaker Row. This charismatic venue occupies a setting, and building, steeped in history – based in the Greyfriars Kirkhouse, Edinburgh Castle can be admired from its own kirkyard – on the other, its contemporary upgrade and extensive renovations have garnered awards for its cutting edge architecture.
This October, the venue is hosting a competition for couples to win their wedding at the centre, a prize worth up to £5,000. Not only will the lucky pair score their w-day base for free, but they will also bag themselves a photographer to boot. Talented East Lothian snapper Tracey Largue will be gifting the winners with a three-hour wedding portrait session on the day and the digital images to share with friends and family afterwards.
