In its previous life as a restaurant, Glasgow’s Citation hosted a handful of weddings, with couples raving about the Merchant City location and period features. Since March 2020, however, the former sheriff court building has undergone renovations to transform it into an exclusive-use venue, tailor-made for weddings.

While the space may be refreshed, wedding manager Louize Hollywood is well-established in the industry, with over 15 years’ experience helping couples plan their big day. “With over 50 weddings in our diary for 2021, we cannot wait to get going as summer approaches,” enthuses Louize.

Dating all the way back to 1844, the venue boasts towering sandstone marble columns and neoclassical design set off beautifully by fairy lights. Inside, there’s a wealth of period features, exposed brick walls, a show-stopping split staircase and a cascading floral balcony.

Each couple gets to have exclusive use of the entire venue for their big day, allowing them to mould it exactly how they want. With total control, comes total flexibility.

When restrictions allow, wedding open days will be announced, so keep an eye on the venue’s social media. Even though it’s currently offering digital viewings, it’s a location that really wows when seen in person.
