Luxe winter bride and groom photoshoot at Killochan Castle
The welcoming grandeur of Killochan Castle in Ayrshire proved the perfect setting to show off rich-hued and polished attire for the groom, and decadent wedding dresses for the bride.
We headed to Killochan Castle in Ayrshire for a photoshoot inspired by winter weddings. Read on for all of the opulent bride and groom outfits as well as some behind the scenes content.
Killochan Castle
We had a nosey in the visitors book at Killochan Castle while we were there, and can reveal that Lord Sebastian Coe and some big Hollywood names have all paid this hidden gem, near Girvan in Ayrshire, a visit.
It’s a meticulously preserved castle that boasts a rich history dating back to the 14th century. The grandeur of the Great Hall, the intimacy of the Drawing Room, and the charm of the luxurious bedrooms create an atmosphere that is both regal and inviting.
Each event is handled with the castle’s signature warmth, style and incredible attention to detail. The castle’s team want you to feel at home, safe in the feeling that everything is possible and nothing is left to chance. No matter if you’re planning an intimate elopement for two, or a dazzling event for 60, they’ll be on hand to support you.
Individually designed and beautifully finished, the 10 majestic bedrooms in the castle, sleeping 18, all feature personal touches and carefully considered details. Within the 143-acre grounds, there are three cottages that sleep up to a further 22 guests, allowing couples to really make a weekend of it.
Bouquets and buttonholes
Based in Mauchline, Ayrshire, florist James Gemmell from JG Flowers created a stunning ‘winter whites’ and foliage bridal bouquet that looked (and smelled) divine. We also borrowed some stunning paper flowers from Velvet Rose Designs that had a few ‘are they real or not?’ double takes from the team!
Hair and makeup by Carol Fairfield
Internationally acclaimed makeup artist and hair stylist Carol Fairfield talks us through our models’ looks: “I started by grooming Neal. It was important his beard was neat and trimmed to be in sync with the wardrobe and rich wintry feel of the shoot.
“We had various looks for our ‘bride’ Kelsie, all based around a radiant skin base (a key look for all my brides) that used a liquid highlighter by Iconic London, mixed with foundation.
“My favourite look on Kelsie was a glam, rich, red lip that looked regal and opulent. A red lip can be a scary thought for brides, but – trust me – there is a red lip colour out there for everyone!
“Hair was pin curled and styled with an almost ‘old Hollywood’ look that progressed to various up-do styles.”
With plenty of beautiful accessories added in, scroll down to see how these amazing bride and groom looks came together.
