Real couples share their wedding day entertainment stories

Not sure what type of entertainment suits your vibe? We chat to three couples about who they booked to bring the party to their big day. You heard it here first!

Stuart and Hayley Leslie

The fun-loving couple, who were married at Enterkine House Hotel on 7th October 2023, hired Tartan Entertainment to get the party started, as recounted here by bride Hayley

“We’d been to a few weddings where Tartan provided the entertainment, so we know it would be good. Stuart and I both love a party and wanted the fun to last as long as possible on our wedding day, so we decided to go with Tartan’s ‘Meal to Midnight’ package, where they would provide entertainment from the moment we walked in for our meal right up to the end of the night. It was the right decision – it was unforgettable and our guests loved it.

Halfway through dinner we were up on our seats waving napkins in the air and had a ‘love train’ with all our guests, and the party didn’t stop from then! It made the time from the meal to the evening reception flow nicely without feeling like we had a break in between.

Our DJ, Euan, looked after us so well and kept the dancefloor filled all night long. A standout moment was the ‘Bride vs Groom DJ battle’. Before the wedding, Stuart and I had been asked to each pick three songs, which we got to take to the decks and play to our wedding party. It was so much fun to see everyone singing and dancing back to us.

Tartan don’t just come to your wedding and play music. They really do host and provide a full entertainment package. They make sure you and all your guests are having the best time. Nothing was too much hassle or too big of an ask. An added bonus is the video that they record of your night – it is such a great keepsake to have.

If you’re thinking of booking Tartan, my advice is do it – you won’t regret it! In fact, we think having Tartan at your wedding should be mandatory!”

Graham and Karen Stewart

The brilliant WooHoo Band soundtracked the couple’s party at Virgin Hotels in Edinburgh, where they tied the knot on 18th November 2023, as bride Karen reveals

“Our aim was to book a band who’d have our guests up dancing all night, which is what we got with WooHoo. We discovered them online and then attended one of their showcase evenings in Glasgow.

We booked them as a two-piece for during the day and then as a five-piece band for the evening. We loved their real-time booking portal: not only could we put all of our timings and event details in, but we could pre-load our music preferences, first three dances and our final dance request. We were also able to select our favourites from their own playlist.

They have a Spotify list so we could listen to some of their tracks too. Their customer service was very good, the portal was easy to use and we felt confident with the process from start to finish.

Our guests raved about how great the band were and loved our playlist picks. The dance floor was full all night and overall we had a great experience. WooHoo totally surpassed our expectations!”

Ross Methven and Maria Murdoch

On 16th September 2023, Ross and Maria said ‘I do’ at Crossbasket Castle – and the bride says M.arté Studios brought some great entertainment to the evening

“M.arté Studios promise to create an ‘unforgettable’ experience for your event – offering services such as a premium luxe 360° photobooth and videobooth and on-the-day content creation. Their unique way of documenting your big day caught the eye of the couple, who were aiming to have their special memories captured in a different way: “We wanted something different that would be memorable for our guests, and also something that everyone could interact with. M.arté Studios were fantastic and really surpassed our expectations.

Not only did they capture our wedding guests on the 360° booth, but they also gave us footage of our first dance and our ceilidh. There was a queue for the booth all night.

For us, the highlight of our experience with M.arté Studios was how quickly they got our gallery back to us. We had it less than a week after our wedding and it was such a wonderful surprise. The footage included our guests dancing and our first dance. It gave us a chance to see parts of the day we had missed.

The team at M.arté Studios then created a reel on Instagram for us showing the highlights of our evening reception. They provided a great service and really went above and beyond to make our day extra-special.”
