The Cow Shed Crail’s cottages are a home away from home for your guests

We all know how weddings go down. It’s all very civil during the ceremony, shedding a few tears for the happy couple, before toasting their new life with a glass of fizz and tucking into some delicious fare. Fast-forward to 8pm and the drinks are flowing, the music’s blaring, and your favourite folk are having a ball throwing shapes as the band jam out hit after hit.

Before you know it, the lights are on, the band is packing up and your guests are filing on to the buses, heading for home. It doesn’t have to end this way. More couples are now opting to extend their celebrations over the weekend and we couldn’t agree more. So to keep the party jumping, you’ve got to find some beds for some heads.

Say hello to a venue that ticks that box and more – The Cow Shed Crail. Located on the edge of Crail, in the East Neuk of Fife, it was originally used to house calves for dairy before closing its doors in the 1980s. However, as of January 2016, the steading has become one of Scotland’s hottest wedding venues. The farmyard style layout is packed full of original features, character and affords lush views across the Firth of Forth to the Bass Rock and East Lothian.

It’s not just the interior we’re keen to shout about – the venue has a collection of cottages nearby for wedding guests to slumber when the shindig has died down. Over 10 residences, 33 of your mates will be well looked after in their new homes for the night.

“We are so lucky to be able to offer some great self-catering cottages within walking distance of The Cow Shed Crail,” says the venue’s Jo Trust. “We have three located 100m from the venue, five are just down the track road, and a further two are in Crail itself.”

For those lucky enough to score a room within walking distance of the Cow Shed, they’ll enjoy “sea views, great beaches and get a delicious cheese toasty courtesy of The Cheesy Toast Shack,” adds Jo.

If your guest list is likely to bump up a couple numbers by the time you tie the knot, there are more cottages in the pipeline. Jo continues, “From spring next year we’ll be able to offer space for 41 to 43 guests. We’re aiming to have another larger cottage sleeping eight located next to the venue too, so watch this space!”
