“We were living in Glasgow when we got engaged, but we both knew we wanted to get married back in Australia. Having a creative background and knowing what we were after – a marquee wedding near the ocean – made planning quite easy. We also used suppliers that had worked together before, like my makeup artist, florist and photographer, and this meant whatever they did would compliment each other.
We decided to get married at St Clements Anglican Church in Mosman as this was Greg’s school church. The reception was at Greg’s father house in Cremorne, Sydney. It was absolutely breathtaking!
We had a beautiful clear marquee set up on the grass overlooking the harbour filled with hanging lights and greenery and a bar close by on the decking. We decided on this arrangement as there was more flexibility so we could get exactly what we were after and meant we could party late into the night without having to leave the premises. In Australia, guests attend all day so we had 90 of our family and friends for the full celebration.
I think the whole day was very ‘us’ because we had the freedom to design everything. We had a little bit of us everywhere from the food (elevated antipasti boards running the full length of the tables) to the flowers (native Australian foliage mixed with lush roses) and the whole vibe of the day was really ‘Greg and Tess.’ We honestly wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Even though my dress had quite a full skirt, it was easily packed into my carry-on luggage along with my shoes, accessories and jacket. It was the first dress I tried on during my appointment at Anne Priscilla and I kept coming back to it. I didn’t want to take it off at the end of the night.
Catching up with everyone all at once was special. We were only in Aus for a short time so it made the visit really easy. Seeing everything we had been working on come together in real life was better than we had imagined!”
