Young entrepreneurs shake up Glasgow’s wedding scene with new venue, The Haberdashery

Afton Ferguson and Nikki Fairfull saw the potential in a disused space on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street, turning it into a modern events and wedding venue

We’ve had our fair share of hits and misses with Gumtree finds (A never-been-used bed frame? Excellent. A chair that broke as soon as we sat on it? Not so much.), but Nikki Fairfull’s latest find blows all of ours out the water: while browsing the site, she came across a vacant building on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street, and immediately saw its potential. She and business partner (and best friend!) Afton Ferguson have now transformed the space into The Haberdashery, a multi-purpose wedding and event space.

Named after a ladies’ tailors which operated in the building for more than 50 years from 1923, the building’s potential jumped out at Nikki as soon as she saw it in person, as she explains: “I fell in love the moment I walked in – there was so much natural light and it was much grander than I expected, with its traditional cornicing, marble pillars and exposed brick. It just felt so romantic.

“I know how many people are struggling to book wedding venues right now so we hope we can provide the perfect blank canvas to those people straight away,” she continues. “Within a few years, we believe this will be one of the most popular wedding venues in Glasgow.” Watch this space!
