“Finding our venue was top priority as we had some pretty specific requirements: we wanted as much room for guests to stay over as possible! Cambo Estate in Fife was the first venue we saw and we fell in love with it straight away. It sleeps over 50 people with room for camping so we knew we could make an amazing weekend of it.
The estate has so many different areas to use. We got married in the walled gardens, had photos taken down by the sea and in the forest then danced all night in the party woodland! Frances and Struan who run Cambo are just wonderful, creative, lovely people. They had time for all my ridiculous questions and bent over backwards to make the whole experience as incredible as possible.
My mum is a Church of Scotland minister so it was a no-brainer that she would marry us. The ceremony was very special; relaxed and informal with plenty of laughs! We wrote our own vows and both ended up accidentally with the same first one!
Euan and I both love bright colours and I’m really into pom poms so those drove our decorating decisions. I spent the year before the wedding making hundreds of pom poms to use instead of flowers and bunting. Music is a shared obsession of ours, so our invites were seven-inch singles and our favourite album covers were table markers.
We saved money on food by having trucks serving either fish and chips or burritos. Anyone that fancied baking was asked to make a pudding to put on a dessert table. The guests loved it!
I loved every moment of the day: I adored getting ready with my nine bridesmaids, the dancing was brilliant, our band and DJ were both incredible and everyone stayed on the dancefloor all night.”
Top tip: “Be prepared for people to ask you a million annoying questions in the lead up to the day – that started doing my head in!”
