“We knew we wanted to have a small, intimate ceremony, and Raemoir House fitted the bill. It’s a stunning venue, with helpful and friendly staff, and a cosy atmosphere. It had rooms of a suitable size so our celebration didn’t seem too small, and the team were happy to cater to the relaxed ceremony and meal we had planned for our 17 guests.
The simplicity of our day reflects us a couple. It also meant that we could maximise the time spent with our guests, rather than feeling like we gave them all a rushed five minutes of our time. The lovely summer sunshine allowed for a relaxed drinks reception on the front lawn.
We chose to have a Humanist ceremony, and incorporated both our families in the symbolic details, including hand fasting using our family tartans (presented by our mums) and drinking gin from the Quaich, filled by our dads. I also had a bouquet charm with a photo of my grandparents.
Our photographer Rebecca Rose Noller was an absolute joy to work with. All our guests commented on how lovely she was and her pictures of the day – captured so unobtrusively – are stunning. The delicious food at Raemoir was another highlight. It was fantastic to get restaurant-quality food at a function and our guests loved the bespoke menu.”
