We wanted to get married as soon as possible. I couldn’t wait to call Scott my husband. We decided to give ourselves just 18 months between engagement and wedding.

It was really important for us to get married in a church. I grew up attending mass every Sunday so it meant a great deal to me. When we found out we could get married in St Aloysius, we were over the moon. It is absolutely stunning, with marble walls and breathtakingly high ceilings.

I just loved the energy I felt the second I walked in and Father John Twist, who married us, was wonderful. He helped us with our marriage preparations and made our service exceptional.

We chose the Blythswood Square Hotel because it is a place we frequently visit. We love the spa and have had many overnights. It’s a very intimate venue, where we could have access to the entire bottom level. The kids could even watch movies in the cinema room! What could be more perfect?

The Blythswood’s staff are so welcoming and friendly, but special mention has to go to events manager, Michelle MacAlister. She was fantastic from day one and so good at her job!

We were pretty keen on spending the weekend in the spectacular penthouse suite, but were unsure if we’d get it, as Kylie Minogue was staying at the hotel at the time. Michelle worked her magic and made sure we were the priority! It was unreal – I felt like a celebrity.

We saw our wedding as simply a big party, with everyone we loved in the one room. Every detail was personalised. I made up little baskets for the ladies with flip flops, perfumes and beauty products, while the men were given mini tequila with customised glasses and the kids had bags stuffed full of colouring books and sweets.

Top tip: “Take in every moment. It’s only going to happen once. All Scott and I wanted was for everyone to have the time of their lives, for the wine to be flowing and for the dancefloor to be full for the night. Everything else was just a bonus.”
