From scouring the boutiques in search of the ‘the one’, to finding the perfect accessories and familiarising yourself with the proper bustling procedure, it’s likely that your wedding dress has consumed a large part of your planning process – right up until the wedding day that is, and then what?

The photos are saved to albums (digital or old school), a slice of cake might even be added to the freezer, but then where does the dress go? Unless you’ve got yourself a 27 Dresses style wardrobe, specifically reserved for wedding memorabilia, you’ll likely be fighting for hanging space as it is, but equally you know it deserves better than a dusty shelf or old moving box.

While you might not know what the future holds for your dear dress – we all know that in the world of stains, it’s always better to act sooner rather than later.

When it comes to your everyday wardrobe, there’s no harm in testing a few nifty hacks from white vinegar to baking soda – but when it comes to the finer fabrics of your wedding day ensemble, it’s worth tasking it to the professionals.

This is where the team at bridal boutique and accessories haven, Melle Cloche come in. Located between Charing Cross and Finnieston, the shop is known for stocking fierce, fresh and feminine styles, from & For Love to Vagabond Bridal and brilliant bridesmaids styles too, including TH&TH and Rewritten.

What can brides expect to pay for the aftercare service?

Prices, ranging from £195-£295, are dependent on the size and condition of the dress, as some will require additional cleaning and larger storage boxes.

Plus, for any brides looking to rewear their gowns for their home receptions, Melle Cloche also offer a clean and steam service. This is usually a faster turnaround and will need to be booked in advance. Prices start at £145.

What can be done to save a damaged wedding dress?

The Glasgow-based team are well-aware that the hustle and bustle of weddings can do more than leave a few marks on your lovely dress – so worry not, they’re ready to help.

Lisa says, “If too much dancing and partying damaged your dress you can opt for our additional repair service where we’ll fix any loose lace, small tears or beading and replace any lost buttons or broken bustles.” The repair service starts at £50.
