TTKS Tries: SpeechyAI to write a groom’s wedding speech

Struggling to write a heartfelt speech for your big day? Maybe AI can help. We asked self-confessed tongue-tied groom Mark Stewart (who is set to wed Planning Diaries bride Louise) to put Speechy’s new AI service through its paces ahead of his upcoming wedding

Penning a speech for the most important day of your life can be a tad overwhelming. The groom, best man and any other member of the wedding party who wants to say a few words all feel the pressure. All eyes will be on you as you attempt to make your audience laugh (and cry), squeezing in all the meaningful moments but without forcing your guests to sit and listen for hours. It can feel like an impossible task – so when we heard that speech-writing company Speechy had launched an AI tool that claims to be able to come to your rescue in just one hour, costing £49, we were intrigued. We asked Mark, one of the grooms from our Planning Diaries series, to give it a whirl. Here’s what he thought…

“Public speaking is not my forte, so with my wedding in August fast approaching, the mere thought of my speech was sending shivers down my spine,” he says. “Thank goodness for SpeechyAI. This isn’t your usual AI chatbot. It felt like having a conversation with a friend, guiding me through questions about Louise, my soon-to-be wife, and our amazing group of friends and family.”

The tool wasn’t just taking Mark on a trip down memory lane; it was finding ways to make his speech personal and meaningful. “It was like reliving our whole love story, one hilarious memory at a time,” says Mark. “But there was more to it than just jogging my memory, as I discovered.”

SpeechyAI gathers all your material, pulls out the best bits, and then turns it into a fantastic speech: “Armed with my personal anecdotes, the tool crafted a masterpiece,” smiles Mark. “It was funny, heartfelt and perfectly tailored to our story, and was everything I wanted to say but couldn’t quite articulate. It was like having a stand-up comedian providing punchlines and an editor polishing paragraphs, and it embraced my tweaks like a writing partner.”

Louise and Mark are getting ready to tie the knot in a few months…

SpeechyAI asks 40 to 50 probing questions to get the best content from the user. Using all you have provided, it creates a speech of between 700 and 1,300 words, which, spoken aloud, works out at between five and nine minutes long.

What’s left for Mark to do now? “I’ll still need to practise the delivery, but on the big day, I know the speech will flow like champagne. Louise will cry happy tears, and our guests will roar with laughter.”

As well as providing him with the words to say, Mark believed the AI tool has given him reassurance: “To anyone needing some help articulating their story, forget the worrying. This isn’t just a writing tool – it’s a confidence booster. It’s helping me tell Louise and our loved ones just how much our incredible journey means.”

Final rating: 10 out of 10 (plus bonus brownie points for pre-wedding peace of mind!)
