Q: We’re engaged! We’ve selected our venue and have chosen a photographer for our wedding. How far in advance should we enquire about our cars and guest transport?

A: “Generally, couples book wedding cars 12 months before the big day but we also get bookings further in advance,” says Louise McKinnon of Ultimate Private Hire. “If you know the car you want, we recommend you get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.” Andy McDade at McDade’s Coaches believes that six months ahead is ideal for guest transportation. He adds, “Although, if you’re marrying in the busy months of June, July and August, I’d suggest reserving as far ahead as possible to secure your date with your chosen supplier.”

Q: We’ve chosen to host our ceremony and reception all under one roof to keep our family and friends together for the day. Do we still need wedding cars?

A: “It’s becoming more popular these days to have the entire wedding at one venue. This means that many couples think they have no use for a wedding car,” comments Louise. “However, at Ultimate Private Hire, we offer a unique champagne run which allows the couple to sneak away for half an hour after the ceremony to enjoy the first moments of married life together just the two of them. It also means you can capture some great photographs in a beautiful wedding car that you might have missed by opting to host your celebration at one address.”

Q: We’ve been browsing the internet and have found a company that provides cars and coaches at a much lower price than others we’ve approached. Should we go ahead with them?

A: “If someone is miles cheaper than the rest, there will be a reason for this and it’s normally not because they are a much better-run company,” warns Andy. “In this case, I would recommend seeing any vehicles in person. This way you can see how well the buses or cars are looked after.” Price is important, but it’s also essential to match your transport to the look you’re going for on the day. Louise adds, “Always remember you want your choice of car to complement your theme. We can provide a vintage car for a glamorous, 1920s-style bash or a luxury Rolls-Royce for a sleek city affair.”
