Alongside its covetable occasionwear and signature figure-hugging dresses, Bombshell London has launched a series of glamorous loungewear pieces – how on brand for 2020
Everyone has handled the challenges of lockdown in their own way, but, by and large, we’ve been blown away by how the fashion and bridal industries have risen to the occasion and thought outside the box. Give a hand to Bombshell London, a brand that’s put the months in limbo to good use, and tried out a few new designs.
“After an incredibly difficult year, Bombshell has had to adapt to these unusual times and re-imagine the needs of our customers,” designer Katya Wildman reflects. “This season will see the launch of a range of loungewear and lavish velvet robes.
“When I had a meet and greet with Dita Von Teese, she was wearing a Jenny Packham robe and looked so comfortable yet utterly sensational, screaming that type of old Hollywood glamour where garments were just meant to flatter and made with care and quality. I’m sure it wouldn’t have had the same effect had she been wearing a fleecy number! I was inspired.
“The starting block for any Bombshell piece is comfort. I wanted a bell sleeve, but not too much, and a wrap style that was sleek over the hips – just streamlined elegance. I added a slightly angular shoulder pad for drama (I was influenced by the costumes in the Netflix series, Hollywood) and was also keen for it to be machine washable. I think we’ve found the perfect balance for the robe. It can be worn entertaining at home, paired with a brooch, or would look totally fabulous getting ready for the big day!”
