“Andrew proposed on Christmas Eve 2014. Christmas is my favourite time of year and this particular one was even more special! Andrew handed me a present – a homemade book of our life. We went to school together (although didn’t start dating ’til 2012), so it began with pictures from those days. The last page said ‘our engagement’ and he produced my dream ring from under the couch!

One of our first planning decisions was to enlist the help of Jordana Event Design & Florist. I was a fan of Jordana’s tasteful work and knew she would be able to help us create a regal-looking wedding with a family, fun-loving atmosphere, and – boy – did she and her team deliver!

We had initially planned on getting married in my local church, but we discovered Dunblane Cathedral one Sunday morning after an overnight stay nearby. It took my breath away. The ceremony was a dream come true: standing there in a spectacular building, marrying my best friend in front of all our friends and family.

After visiting a few venues and ruling them out, my mum suggested visting Dunblane Hydro. I loved it. It’s a beautiful big hotel and catered for everyone. We even continued the celebrations on to the Sunday night, when we took over another function room in the hotel!

I used to look at wedding dresses online even before I was engaged. I adore Spanish lace so Pronovias was an easy designer choice for me. We visited the brand’s shop on New Bond Street shop in London. I only asked to try one dress on at the consultation and said yes straight away!

My parents gave me my dream wedding day and I will always be eternally grateful to them for it. My mum and I ensured we got value for money with everything. It’s not how much you spend on a wedding that makes it: people make a wedding, and my guests gave Andrew and I a weekend we will never forget.

Top tip: Try not to get to caught up worrying about trivial things: you will never please everyone. It’s important you do what you want as a couple.”
