The £20 million refurbishment at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow proved to be worth every penny when it scooped the top prize at the Scottish Hotel Awards in May. The venue was awarded ‘Top Hotel of the Year’, beating Balbirnie House Hotel, who came in second place. Gary McLean Quin, Chairman of Judges, comments: “There were again many strong contenders for Scottish Hotel of the Year but the Grand Central stood out because of its all-round performance. It was great to see the old building re-open a few years ago and its plans are marvellous for Glasgow.” 0141 240 3700, www.thegrandcentralhotel.co.uk
