Sentimental details that honoured family

Sometimes the most meaningful details are the simplest. For Emma, one of the most emotional touches at their Ayrshire wedding reception was the table numbers.

“Olivia Hepburn at OSH Studio took samples of my papa’s handwriting and made them into table numbers, complete with his signature at the bottom corner,” explains Emma.

“He’d passed away quite suddenly the year before the wedding, which was a shock. I wanted him involved in our day somehow, but nothing too much that would upset me. The result was the table numbers – they were so sentimental and couldn’t have been more perfect. We also toasted with his favourite shot, Tequila Rose, during my dad’s speech.”

The speeches became one of the standout moments of the evening. “All the speeches were amazing, but the one from best man Marc is something Dale and I, and a lot of others, will remember forever,” Emma adds.

“Marc can be quite quiet, and I thought he would be extremely nervous, but he absolutely surprised us all when he stood up and recited this amazing poem he’d written about Dale!”

A relaxed ceremony with powerful music

Emma’s favourite moment of the day came as she walked down the aisle at Enterkine Country House.

“My favourite moment was walking down the aisle with my dad by my side to the dramatic sounds of ‘Arrival of the Birds’ by The Cinematic Orchestra. I honestly thought nerves were going to get the better of me, but I was nothing but excited.”

Celebrant Raymond Lawrie ensured the ceremony struck the perfect tone.

Everything you need to know to plan your wedding ceremony in Scotland

“Raymond Lawrie made everything so relaxed – so much so, I wish I could’ve stood up there for longer! If you’re after a celebrant who isn’t too serious but also not too jokey, Raymond is your man.”

As the newlyweds made their way back up the aisle, GeO Gospel Choir performed Florence and the Machine’s ‘You Got the Love’, setting the mood for the celebrations ahead.

“I can’t shout about GeO Gospel Choir enough. Our guests haven’t stopped talking about them either.”

Entertainment that kept the party going

Emma and Dale placed a huge emphasis on making sure their guests had the best possible experience at their Enterkine Country House wedding.

“I really put my focus on planning a wedding that our friends and family would enjoy. Dale and I knew we would have an amazing time regardless, but we really wanted to make sure they did too.”

One of the most memorable moments came during the meal, when DJ and host Jonny Ruiz from Tartan Entertainment turned the reception into a full-scale “day rave”.

“It saw everyone up on their feet, waving their napkins in the air! It was so much fun. It’s an incredible feeling having everyone in one room, dancing and having the time of our lives.”

Elegant styling with modern wedding looks

The couple’s styling centred on dramatic drapes and an ivory-and-black palette, creating a sophisticated look that flowed throughout the venue.

Emma’s Justin Alexander gown, customised by Catriona Garforth Bridal, featured an elegant neck scarf that echoed the soft draping used in the décor. She later changed into a second dress by Natalie Rolt.

“I visited five boutiques before I found my dress at Pretty Woman Edinburgh,” she explains.

Dale opted for a bespoke white tuxedo from Slater Made to Order. “I was more interested in the small details for a bespoke suit and was able to choose right down to the lapels and lining.”

Choosing Enterkine Country House

The search for their Ayrshire wedding venue was surprisingly simple.

“Enterkine Country House was the first place we went to see. The staff were so accommodating that we just knew it was for us. The fact that the ceremony and reception could both be held in the same one big room sold it.”

Looking back, Emma has one piece of advice for couples currently planning their wedding.

“Trust your gut. If something with a supplier feels ‘off’, for example, don’t ignore it. And stay in your own little bubble with it all.”
