A wedding, when you think about it, is more than just the joining together of two people. When you say ‘I do’, you’re not simply gaining a new spouse, but an entire community of new people who will love and support you in your endeavours as a couple.

In the case of the new Mr and Mrs Jump, they didn’t just pledge to love one another, but their vows were extended to include their children.

“Our children (I have three and Ally has one) are our world, so our main goal was to include them in our day as much as possible,” smiles the bride. “One way we did this was by each of us placing a single flower in a vase one by one while our celebrant read a poem we had picked about our families coming together and becoming one.

My favourite parts were seeing Ally all emotional when I came down the aisle and listening to our children recite a poem. My oldest son has autism and he was given the role of ring-bearer – I was so proud of how well he did.”

The Salutation, that famous old hotel in Perth, was the venue and the couple were delighted with the package they were offered – “insane value for money” is the bride’s verdict. “It included 70 day guests, 100 night guests, a piper to welcome everyone, a red carpet, a master of ceremonies, the bridal suite for us the night of the wedding and two rooms the night prior to the wedding, plus breakfast on both mornings.”

She and Ally were able to personalise many details too: “Our package gave us arrival drinks, drinks for the speeches and a glass of wine for each guest with dinner, a three-course meal with two choices for each course, bud flowers for each table and a fresh flower centrepiece for the main table. It also included a one-year anniversary meal and stay. All of this for £1,999!”

Terri-Ann says any nerves she might have had about her wedding were quickly quashed thanks to the organisation and care of the hotel’s staff. “Everything ran so smoothly on the day – I was so relaxed as everything had been handled,” she recalls.

“I was a little anxious on the morning of the wedding as there had been a function the day before in the room we were going to be using for our evening reception. But I needn’t have worried. I came downstairs and everything had been done for me: all my seat covers and bows were on the chairs and my centrepieces were arranged. It was such a weight off!"

“Everything was so well coordinated between the celebrant and the hotel - I just had to turn up to walk down the aisle!”

The day was a full family affair for the Jumps and, as such, it wasn’t without some touching moments…“My auntie had arranged for my papa (who has dementia and lives in a care home) to attend the ceremony, but I had no idea about it until I came downstairs to walk down the aisle,” smiles the bride.

“He was sitting in his wheelchair at the bottom of the stairs, waiting to gift me my ‘something blue’ (my late gran’s sapphire and diamond ring). It was an incredibly emotional moment, and the memory will stay with me forever.”

Guests were so impressed by the day, with the food and the rave with dance classics and glowsticks that ended the evening being just two of the standout moments.

“We would absolutely recommend The Salutation to everyone,” smiles Terri-Ann. “It is great value for money, the staff are very attentive, and the hotel is stunning inside.”

Top tip: "My advice would be to chat to the wedding coordinator about your visions for the day and they will do everything they can to accommodate them!"
