Lynsay Spiers of Bijoux Bridal talks us through the wedding dress shopping experience at the top-rated Hamilton bridal boutique

We headed to Bijoux Bridal to get a taster of the wedding dress shopping experience and chatted to lovely owner Lynsay who shared everything from her own wedding dress shopping experience to the ins and outs of deciding what designers and labels to stock in the Hamilton boutique.

So if you're a bride-to-be planning your visit to Bijoux, or you're still trying to find the right place to start shopping – you've come to the right place.

Inclusive wedding shopping experience

"If you’re seeking a welcoming and supportive environment, Bijoux Bridal provides a personalised, inclusive wedding dress shopping experience.

Unlike some bridal shops, we offer expert guidance and a stress-free atmosphere, with the aim of making every woman feel beautiful, confident and celebrated, regardless of her size or shape.

When a bride steps into the boutique for the first time, she can expect a warm and welcoming vibe, dedicated attention, and a wide selection of dresses. We carry sizes 6 to 36 in store.

Our friendly stylists will take the time to understand your vision and guide you through the process, making sure your visit is memorable and enjoyable."

One-on-one bridal consultations

"Why do brides pick Bijoux Bridal? I put that down to our reputation, our inclusive sizing options, friendly customer service, exclusive designer collections and our personalised approach to each bride.

We create a stress-free and fun environment where you’ll feel valued and understood. Our attention to detail and commitment to helping you find your dream dress really sets us apart.

We’re not simply a retail store, we’re a partner throughout your wedding journey

We offer one-on-one consultations, and really listen to each bride’s preferences, taking the time to understand her wedding vision.

Our experienced stylists provide tailored recommendations and styling advice, making sure each customer feels special and supported throughout the process.

Our brides frequently mention in feedback how comfortable and relaxed they felt during their appointments and rave about the attentiveness of our staff."

How should I prepare before my wedding dress shopping appointment?

"Do some research. Have a look at which designers we carry and the pricing guidelines.

Ideally, you’ll have an idea of your budget and you’ll have a date booked, so we can work towards this while using the venue as inspiration for your theme."

What should I bring with me wedding dress shopping?

"Bring along any inspiration photos or ideas you have.

It’s also helpful to wear underwear that makes you feel comfortable, in a nude colour, with detachable straps if possible."

Which bridal designers and bridal labels does Bijoux Bridal carry?

"We are currently a premier stockist for a range of designers (meaning we carry the widest selection of dresses in Glasgow, sometimes Scotland).

Our designers include Stella York, Mori Lee, Ronald Joyce, Justin Alexander, Maggie Sottero, Milla Nova and Allure Romance."

Does Bijoux Bridal carry any exclusive collections?

"We have Justin Alexander, Maggie Sottero, Milla Nova and Ronald Joyce designs that you won’t find anywhere else in the area.

We're also proud to offer exclusive Bijoux collections designed by our in-house team and only available directly from us."

Current top-selling bridal styles

"Our top-selling styles include classic ballgowns, in mikado or satin fabrics, and elegant mermaid silhouettes with lace details and intricate beadwork.

Our brides love a gown with two looks, so overskirts, gloves and veils always do well.

Minimalist styles with clean lines and simple elegance are always popular, as are square necklines (classic Bridgerton vibes), particularly for brides marrying in a castle or grand surroundings.

Off-the-shoulder bohemian gowns with flowing fabrics and floral appliqués are a big hit with those marrying in more casual barn-style venues."

The rise of the social media bride

"I think brides nowadays are more open to experimenting with different silhouettes, colours and unique details, making the fashion landscape more dynamic and exciting.

Back when we opened in 2009, the only time you got a glimpse of other weddings was when a family member passed around the photo album during a visit

Now, with Pinterest, Instagram and TikTok, you can see weddings daily from all over the world.

There are no limits to the styles and themes you can choose, and I think that has encouraged brides to be much more adventurous."

From bride to wifey, Bijoux Bridal is a one-stop shop for wedding outfits and accessories

"Our fabulous Luxe Lounge has one of Scotland’s largest in-store range of hen party, bridal athleisure and occasionwear.

We also offer accessories, such as veils and headpieces, plus we have a massive selection of bridesmaid dresses, including our recent collaboration with Six Stories."

Where can I shop Six Stories' bride-to-be collection in Scotland?

"Here at Bijoux Bridal in Hamilton, we are the first Scottish store to stock the Six Stories brand, and we were over the moon when they reached out to us personally!"

Does Bijoux Bridal do wedding dress alterations?

"We have a talented alterations team, based locally, who we collaborate with to ensure our brides’ dresses fit perfectly.

They can offer customisation options like adding sleeves, altering necklines and adjusting lengths.

Our goal is to make each bride’s dress uniquely hers!"

Are there any exciting dates in the diary for Bijoux Bridal?

"Yes, we’re thrilled to announce plans to bring a Bijoux pop-up to a city near you, which will allow us to give even more brides the Bijoux experience.

Keep an eye on our social media for all the dates and details.

Our outlet store, One of a Kind Bridal Outlet, has also relaunched and is now open three days a week in Hamilton, with all sample gowns priced at £499, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and innovation in bridal fashion."
