Fun, fresh bridal looks were at the forefront of Bridal Hair by Natasha's styled bridal shoot captured by Alison White Photography at new wedding venue, Estate of Ord
Bridal hair specialist Natasha Griffin of Bridal Hair by Natasha was keen to plan a content day that would allow her, and a host of other hand-selected suppliers, to "feel free to be as creative as possible."
The result? A dynamic and well-lit shoot that balanced classic wedding romance with a modern edge.
Located along the iconic North Coast 500 route, just 25 minutes north of Inverness, the Estate of Ord (previously known as Ord House) offered up its historic and timeless charm as the perfect backdrop for their fun-filled day.
Nestled within 28 acres of breathtaking Scottish Highlands, the historic 17th-century estate, complete with a sprawling walled garden, plentiful fields (perfect for a frolic) and ample natural light, provided photographer Alison White with an "exciting opportunity to experiment with full creative freedom," Natasha explains.
"Alison played with a mixture of flash, natural light, and dynamic combinations of the two.
"The bright, direct sunlight – often a challenge on wedding days – was turned into an asset, resulting in dramatic, high-contrast images that captured the beauty of both the estate and the model's fierce style."
From top to toe, freelance model Mallory Reid was skilfully styled in three unique looks to highlight the venue’s versatility, using two dresses provided by Margaret from Charlotte Smith Bridal in Inverness, each complemented by accessories from Highland home studio, Alexandra Bespoke.
"For the bride's hair, I styled the timeless satin ballgown with a modern half-up look and a bohemian bun, while the beaded fit-and-flare gown was paired with a contrasting mermaid side braid," Natasha shares.
Highlands-based makeup artist Andrea Maxwell, who specialises in creating natural, radiant makeup (and hair) for the modern bride, utilised her signature style to create a "radiant, skin-focused look" for a "fresh feel".
Andrea even opted to add faux freckles and a subtly pink sun-kissed glow to enhance model Mallory's youthful and playful nature.
On this Natasha adds, "Faux freckles are a trend that’s here to stay. They're excellent for adding a fun and contemporary twist to your overall look."
To provide both texture and contrast, floral bouquets – both a fresh and a dried bunch – played another vital role in the creative vision of the day.
For the fresh bouquet, passionate florist Kay of Flowers by Kay Haspell "embraced the rich, deep purples to create a dramatic and romantic display."
Here Kay incorporated locally sourced flowers as well as dahlias and hydrangeas from her own garden, while the dried bunch was comprised of purchased and homegrown buds – including delicate pink roses that she dried herself.
"Kay and I worked together placing dried flowers onto the modern romantic take on a half-up hairstyle.
"Adding an unexpected element of whimsy and sophistication, this works as an excellent way to give brides a fresh take on wedding-day florals," Natasha finishes.
