Looking for mother-of-the-bride or mother-of-the-groom outfits in Scotland? We speak to Catwalk, a family-run occasionwear boutique in Falkirk, about when to shop, 2026 trends, exclusive designer labels and how to secure your perfect wedding look.

About Catwalk boutique in Falkirk

Can you introduce Catwalk and tell us what makes it unique as an occasionwear boutique in Falkirk?

Catwalk is a family-run occasionwear boutique in Falkirk. My sister, Pauline Spiers, set up shop in 2004 and now, more than 20 years later, is still running it with the support of myself, her daughter Janine, my daughter Ailie, and a wonderful team of experienced stylists.

What is Catwalk’s ethos when it comes to styling mothers of the bride, mothers of the groom and special-occasion guests?

We put the customer first at Catwalk and are renowned for our friendly, personal shopping experience.

Not only do we have a huge range of mother-of-the-bride/groom and guest outfits, with shoes, bags and accessories to complete the look (we stock more than 30 carefully selected designer labels), we also have beautiful casualwear for everyday. There’s something at Catwalk for every occasion.

During our 90-minute appointments, our experienced stylists offer lots of one-to-one support and guidance, ensuring every detail of the shopping experience leaves our ladies feeling confident and truly special.

Why customers choose Catwalk for wedding occasionwear

Why do mothers of the bride and groom choose Catwalk for their wedding outfits?

Most of our customers come from personal referrals, either from other wedding industry specialists or from people who have previously bought from us.

You can do your research online and see our numerous five-star reviews as well as our wide variety of videos on social media where we showcase our designs and talk about trends and styling advice.

The videos allow us to get our personality out there and help eliminate any reservations you might have about visiting an occasionwear boutique. Our customers often say it feels like they already know us before they visit!

What kind of feedback do you regularly receive from customers?

Our ladies tell us time and again that their Catwalk experience was exceptional. They love the warm and friendly welcome and the beautifully presented boutique.

They say they never felt pressured and were well supported throughout their shopping experience. That means a lot to us, as it’s exactly what we want Catwalk to be.

When should you shop for mother-of-the-bride or mother-of-the-groom outfits?

When do new mother-of-the-bride and groom collections arrive in boutiques like Catwalk?

Something important for new special-occasionwear shoppers to note is that boutiques like ours have two main deliveries per year.

The spring/summer collections arrive between December and February.

This delivery offers the biggest range, and many styles will be transitional so are perfect for weddings through to September/October.

The next delivery (in June/July) is a smaller capsule collection and is primarily for autumn/winter weddings – offering deeper tones, weightier fabrics and more sleeve or jacket options.

How early should you book your appointment and what should you know before shopping?

We want to keep these designs exclusive so only receive one in each size. Unfortunately, designers don’t often carry any extra stock, so once a size is sold we can’t get it back in.

The best advice is to keep an eye on our website and socials for new arrivals and as soon as a few styles catch your eye, book your appointment and shop early in the season for the biggest choice of designs and sizes.

Lastly, don’t be daunted by professional images with 5ft11, size 10 models – the collections are designed to flatter every body shape (we stock sizes 6 to 26).

Keep an open mind and relax. We’re here to guide and support you until you find the one!

Designers stocked at Catwalk

How do you decide which occasionwear designers to stock at Catwalk?

We stock many of the most sought-after occasionwear designers including Veni Infantino, John Charles London, Maisonel, Linea Raffaelli, Lizabella, Veromia Occasions, Dressed Up by Veromia and Allison.

We’ve been working with our principal brands like Veni Infantino and John Charles for around 15 years – British designers with a history of exceptional craftsmanship, quality fabrics and flattering fits that build confidence.

For me, they constantly listen to what today’s woman is looking for, adapting their collections to include new trends with modern flair but still staying true to their core identity.

Trending mum outfits for 2026 weddings

What styles are currently most popular with mums of the bride and groom?

Ladies are loving fit-and-flare dresses, either in lightweight, flowing fabrics or a more structured mikado silk. High-low hemlines, exaggerated shoulder bows, delicate beadwork or statement sleeves are sure to add a modern twist.

We’ve also been asked for long dresses this season, which are so timeless and elegant – especially with the rise of black-tie weddings.

Are there any new or exclusive collections customers should look out for this season?

For this summer, we have reintroduced Belgian label Linea Raffaelli – a very exclusive designer offering modern, clean lines and luxurious fabrics, perfect for home and destination weddings.

Alterations, accessories and additional styling services

What other products or services can customers expect when shopping at Catwalk?

We work closely with a very talented and lovely dressmaker, so once you’ve picked your dream outfit, we’ll put you in touch if you need custom adjustments or alterations.

Once you’re happy with your outfit, our in-store stylists can help you choose a headpiece, bespoke dyed to match our outfits perfectly.

We also have a wide range of matching shoes and bags in beautiful Italian leather – the shoes with cushion footbeds so you can dance all night in comfort.

Thanks to our vast selection of everyday/casualwear, we’re also more than happy to help sort some lovely outfit choices for the dinner before the wedding and the breakfast the morning after – and, for destination wedding guests, holiday outfits too.
