Throughout the day, guests become both subject and spectator as portraits are hand-drawn in real time. The experience creates conversation, entertainment and personalised keepsakes guests can take home, offering something memorable beyond traditional wedding favours.

Alongside live sketching, That’s So Sketch designs bespoke illustrated place settings, where each guest’s portrait becomes part of the seating plan and doubles as a thoughtful favour.

Live illustration services 

Every illustration begins with traditional pen-on-paper techniques before being enhanced with Copic markers and optional finishing details such as subtle glitter accents. Finished artwork is presented in protective sleeves, ready for guests to take home on the day.

•    Live guest illustrations (A5) – hand-drawn portraits created throughout the wedding day for guests
•    Couple illustrations (A4) – detailed bespoke portraits completed after the wedding
•    Venue illustrations (A4) – personalised sketches of wedding venues and meaningful locations
•    Illustrated place settings – guest portraits incorporated into seating plans and tablescapes
•    Remote sketch commissions – personalised artwork and illustrated thank-you cards

Live illustration packages

Packages are designed around guest numbers and wedding timings.

3-hour package

Ideal for smaller weddings, covering approximately 30 guests.

5-hour package

One of the most popular options, suited to around 50 guests and often covering drinks receptions through to the wedding breakfast.

7-hour package

Designed for larger weddings of 70+ guests and includes a digital venue illustration.

9-hour package

Suitable for up to 90 guests and includes:

•    Full-day illustration coverage
•    Digital venue illustration
•    Detailed A4 couple portrait

Additional hours can be added for larger guest numbers or extended celebrations.

Remote sketching services

For couples who love the idea of guest illustrations but prefer not to include sketching on the day, remote sketching services are available. 

Colleen or an assistant will attend the wedding to capture photographs, with illustrations completed afterwards and delivered around six weeks later. This option is also available for post-wedding thank you cards.

About That’s So Sketch

That’s So Sketch was founded by Colleen, whose artistic background combines formal training, fashion influences and years of creative experience. She studied at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen before working with an interior design company in Vienna, creating prints and developing an eye for editorial design and composition.

Her long-standing love of fashion continues to influence her illustration style today, resulting in sketches that feel expressive, contemporary and inspired by editorial imagery. Although That’s So Sketch officially launched in 2024, demand quickly grew and as of 2026, Colleen moved into the wedding industry full time.

Collaborations, experience and industry connections

Alongside weddings, That’s So Sketch has brought her illustration style to commercial projects and collaborations, including:

She has also collaborated with Gama Aviation, working alongside the design team to create a digital lookbook showcasing a new staff uniform collection. Using her signature illustrated silhouettes, the collection comprised 12 looks across pilot, cabin crew, office and cleaning staff uniforms, presented digitally for conference materials and internal staff distribution.

Additionally, through regularly attending weddings, she has also developed close working relationships with suppliers across the Scottish wedding industry. These collaborations led to involvement in the Perks Package, founded by We Are One Wedding Films – a collective of trusted wedding suppliers who frequently work together to create a calm, familiar atmosphere for couples on the day.

Where is That’s So Sketch based?

That’s So Sketch is based in Glasgow and travels across Scotland for weddings. 
Alternative remote options are also available for couples unable to book live sketching on the day.

How does the booking process work?

Enquiries are managed through Studio Ninja, where couples can submit details including their wedding date, venue and estimated guest numbers.

Colleen then recommends suitable packages based on the information provided. Once a package is selected, a 30% booking fee secures the date.

Are last-minute bookings available?

Yes, if the date is available, last-minute bookings may be possible. Couples are encouraged to enquire as early as they can, particularly for spring and summer weddings.

What space/setup is required on the day?

Colleen requires a 4ft table and access to a nearby plug socket for lighting in a visible location within the venue. This allows guests to interact with the process and watch illustrations come to life.
